2. Website
Hosting and server logs
When the website is accessed, the hosting provider processes technically necessary connection data. This may include the IP address, date and time, requested file, transferred data volume, referrer URL, browser, operating system and access status.
The processing is necessary to deliver the website securely and reliably, detect technical errors and defend against abusive access. The legal basis is the legitimate interest in operating a secure and functional website.
Hosting provider: DomainFactory GmbH, Neuturmstrasse 5, 80331 München
Server log retention: 7 Tage (https://www.df.eu/de/support/df-faq/service-infos/datensicherheit/#accordion-22953)
Hosting provider privacy information: https://www.df.eu/de/datenschutz/
Cookies, tracking and external fonts
The website does not use analytics, marketing or advertising cookies, tracking services or externally loaded web fonts. The selected light or dark colour scheme is stored locally in the browser and is not transmitted to Shuttrplace.
3. Contact
If you use the contact form or contact us by email, the details you enter, your sender address and the content of the message are processed to answer your enquiry. Depending on the subject, the legal basis is the performance of pre-contractual or contractual measures or the legitimate interest in responding to enquiries and feedback.
Contact information is deleted once the enquiry has been fully handled, unless statutory retention duties or legitimate reasons require longer storage.
4. The Shuttrplace app
Local memory data
Shuttrplace is designed as an offline-first app. Titles, notes, moods, tags, collections, dates, saved places and the links between these items are generally stored locally on the device. Shuttrplace currently provides no user accounts and no proprietary cloud for personal memories.
Photos, camera and metadata
When you take or select a photo, the app processes the image locally. If a file contains EXIF information, details such as capture time, camera information and location data may be read and displayed. Location data from a photo is only adopted as a place suggestion after an explicit action.
Device location
The app accesses your position only when you deliberately use a related function, for example when saving a place, using the place picker or using “Remember place quickly”. There is no continuous background location tracking. Location permissions can be changed or withdrawn in the Android system settings at any time.
No advertising or usage analytics
Shuttrplace currently contains no advertising, analytics SDKs or profiling. Personal memory data is not sold.
5. Maps and place search
OpenStreetMap maps
When a map is opened, the app requests map tiles from services of the OpenStreetMap Foundation. For technical reasons, the relevant service receives data including the IP address, device or application information and the requested map area.
Nominatim place search
A place search is sent only after you deliberately start it. The search term is transmitted to the OpenStreetMap Foundation's Nominatim service so that matching places can be returned. Personal journal text, photos and collections are not transmitted as part of the search.
The OpenStreetMap Foundation processes this data as an independent provider under its own privacy terms.
6. Retention, backups and deletion
- App content remains stored locally until you delete it in the app, reset the local app data or uninstall the app together with its data.
- Export and backup files created by you remain at the selected location until you delete them there.
- Automatic Android cloud backup of personal Shuttrplace data is currently disabled.
- Website server logs are deleted according to the retention period stated above.
7. Recipients and security
Website connection data may be processed by the hosting provider. When maps and place search are used, the OpenStreetMap Foundation receives the technical data required for the request. Beyond this, personal memory data is not transmitted to proprietary Shuttrplace servers under the current feature set.
External network connections of the app and website use encrypted HTTPS connections. Personal content is stored locally. You are responsible for appropriately protecting your device, device lock and backup files.
8. Your privacy rights
Subject to the applicable legal conditions, you may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection. Consent may be withdrawn at any time with effect for the future.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a competent data protection authority.
